1st Birthday Ideas: Part 2

I can't believe Campbell's big birthday is less than a month away.  How could that be possible?  This year has gone by in a flash!  That old cliche saying "time flies when you're having fun" is oh so true in my book.  Luckily planning a first birthday party is fun too, even amid the tears from just thinking about how my tiny little baby is almost a big one year old.  But I digress...

I first posted about birthday party ideas way back in August (read here).  Well, since that time we've made a few decisions about the celebration.  First, the biggie: location.  We've decided to have it at our house in Durham the weekend after Campbell's birthday.  We thought about doing it in Knoxville at one of our parents' homes so more extended family could come, but that was just going to be too hectic.  TC is taking a mini-term in January to be able to graduate early and we will have just gotten back from celebrating the holidays in Tennessee.  I still hope some of our family will be able to join us for the celebration in North Carolina!

Next up: theme.  After scouring the internet for ideas, I recently settled on something.  It's a red wagon theme.  TC and I had said we were going to give Campbell one for his birthday, so it seemed perfect when I found these invitations from Minted.

Not to give too much away but I also got the cutest coordinating address labels and thank you notes. I'm so pumped to get them in the mail in a few days!

Over the next couple of weeks I am going to really nail down the details, but for now here are a few things I've felt inspired by on Pinterest (linking up with Michelle here) ...

These cakes are simply amazing!  I'll probably opt for something simpler (like cupcakes and a smash cake) but it would be neat to have such a work of art for the celebration.

I've got quite the project for the holidays, but I'm excited!  I love entertaining and nothing gives me greater joy than my little Campbell man!
